FAQs about NJSP Expungement Status Portal

A Court-Ordered expungement causes any record of a person's arrest, detention and prosecution to be removed from, and isolated, within the records of all courts, detention or correction facilities, police departments, and any other criminal justice agencies that have such records. As a result, Criminal Records checks, often performed for purposes of employment, will not reveal the fact that the person was arrested.
